Marco and Paula Oberto are today making top end wines throughout their range but this is surely not only their flagship Barbera but possibly one of the regions too. Vines of over 60 years old planted in this special Barolo terroir. In fact if they grubbed up and planted Nebbiolo, we're pretty sure the price would be far higher. But they're content to make wonderful wine rather than maximise prices. Ripe and filled with black fruit, it is richly flavoured yet not over tannic - the tannins are ripe so not obtrusive - and finishes with a fine, structured aftertaste.
