Chenas - Domaine du P'Tit Paradis 2006

Denise Margeron, the owner and winemaker of P'Tit Paradis, has been a friend ever since we sat together at a Confrerie de Saint Vincent dinner in 1995. She is a friendly, gently spoken lady yet with a temper when roused that should be given plenty of space! When the appellation d'origine people upset her she wanted to blow them up! Her wines are magnificent and this Chenas is a must for any cellar. Well coloured with aromas of plums and cherries, delicious sweet fruit on the palate and perfectly balanced with a good overcoat of tannin and a dark lingering finish. Ideal at the moment but with 6 to 10 years ahead of it in bottle. Magnificent!

Muscadet 1er Cru du Chateau - Chateau de la Ragotiere

Stunning Muscadet! made from the oldest vines of the estate that give rich fruit flavours on the palate balanced by an underlying minerality that makes partnering food a pleasure. Dry, clean and full flavoured.

Rosso Conero - Fontevecchia

Made from the Montepulciano grape in the vineyards on the hillside of Monte Conero, this is a really great red! An intense ruby red colour with perfumes of wild cherries and prunes, this is a fun and harmonious wine, dry with vanilla notes and long in the finish. Great with red meats and cheeses.

Mina (Chardonnay/Sauvignon) - Colli Di Conegliano

This is a single vineyard wine from Astoria’s own property in the hills close to Coniegliano, better known for Prosecco production. Fermentation is slow at low temperature to preserve the fine fruit aromas from the Sauvignon Blanc that are backed by the round, soft Chardonnay notes on the palate. Dry, savoury and fresh, this is ideal with a wealth of shellfish and seafood.

Eventide Cabernet Sauvignon - Wellington

What a wine! Just bursting with ripe plummy blackberry and cherry fruit. Full bodied with overtones of blackcurrant, full and rich on the palate but still retaining elegance. It has got a massive finish and offers incredible value for money. A must!

Bouchard Finlayson Sauvignon Blanc - Walker Bay

This is a stunning, almost old world style of Sauvignon, South Africa's flagship varietal. Grassy with tropical overtones, with elegant, pure fruit tones and perfect balance. In the mouth it shows immediate varietal character with great minerality to underpin with green apple and fig flavours dominant. Ideal with seafood and fish or ideal by itself on a warm summer evening.
