They say the greatest wines are made in the vineyard and this is no exception with the high density planting of the Tempranillo Peludo grape giving perfectly healthy bundles at optimum ripeness. This is a wonderfully balanced Rioja with the ripe black fruits being underpinned by notes of spice, lead pencil and toast. On the palate it is mouthfilling and intense yet elegant and with finesse. Approachable now (2009) but another couple of years should see further development with a drinking window until a t least 2020.
