Chateau St Cosme
Chateau St Cosme is run by Louis Barroul, a man with a passion for life that shines through in his winemaking. The domaine which has been in the family since 16th century but where winemaking can be traced back to Gallo-Roman times, benefits greatly from a large parcel of old-vine Grenache which gives formidable depth and quality to its Gigondas. Barroul strictly limits yields and selects rigorously to ensure that only the finest fruit makes it into his bottles. In addition to the estate wines, Louis produces a range of wines under a negotiant label from grapes purchased under contract. Contracts give Louis control of the vineyards throughout the year allowing him to control production from vineyard to cellar, guaranteeing the finest of quality.

This is a little star that drinks well above its appellation. The wine shows great structure and balance with loads of developed fruit aromas and flavours combined with a good level of acidity to make it a perfect food wine. This inexpensive red is a terrific partner to all red meats and game and offers great value.

This unfined and unfiltered cuvee of Cotes du Rhone is a sensation. Loaded with purple fruits and drinking at its peak.

This top St Joseph from Louis Barruol’s negotiant company is a shining example of just what the appellation can offer. As yet it is tight and hard to approach yet the purity of fruit and overcoat of tannins gives it great potential for the future.

Densely coloured with full on aromas of spicy black fruits backed by notes of wild thyme and lavender. Full flavoured, mouth filling and awash with ripe tannins, this is a keeper but can still be fun to drink now.

Delicious ripe, apricot/peach fruit balanced by a fine acidity to refresh the palate and a stunning finish. Viognier at its best.

Rich aromas of black fruit, garrigue and black olives, moderate intensely on the palate with tannins softening and complex flavours appearing beneath the fruit.
