Ciabot Berton - Barolo
Based in the picturesque hilltop village of La Morra, Paola and Marco Oberto are making textbook examples of Barolo, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Dolcetto from their small 9 hectare estate. The Dolcetto d'Alba is delcious soft and fruity and will be great to drink over the coming 2 or 3 years. The Barolo from the cru of Roggeri is one of the regions greatest offerings made purely from the Nebbiolo grape, (like Burgundy using a single grape variety means the special "terroir" makes a truly great wine) it shows all the classic characteristics of great Barolo and should be a must for any cellar.

This cracking little Barbera is delightful elegant with bright fruit aromas. On the palate it is silky with a good ripe entry just bursting with fruit, nicely balanced and great in the finish with hints of chocolate.

This is actually from the younger vines of the Capalot vineyard within the Barolo appellation and it gives sensational dry flower aromas with hints of raw meat. On the palate it is soft, with sweet fruit and notes of tar in the background that lead to a huge finish with hints of bitter chocolate.

This is a wine with really complex aromas but yet full of pure fruit. On the palate it is crammed with black cherry styled fruit with dark chocolate notes. The finish is huge again full of dark fruit and chocolate. A trully magnificent bottle!

This is a stunning single vineyard Barolo which displays all the classical aromas of tar and roses backed by a great structure and balancing acidity. Ideal to drink now but as with all great wines, loads of potential for the future.
