Dark fruit aromas with notes of tobacco leading to a clean, fresh palate with tannins evident and a dry finish. The wine will soften in time for those that find the tannins too robust at present (2009). Decant an hour or so before serving to allow the wine to open.

Typically for Margaux, the wine offers good sweet black fruit with hints of herbs and lavender balanced by firm, ripe tannins. Good for current consumption (2009) it is best drunk over the coming five years whilst the fruit remains youthful and vigorous.

Dark, intense and loaded with ripe fruit the tannins would benefit from another 2 years cellaring just to round out a little. When mature this will be a trully superb St Emilion.

Wonderfully intense aromas of dried grapes lead to more complex notes of stewed fruit. In the mouth it is full and ripe with notes of tropical fruits, especially mango, together with the tell-tale orange peel hints so associated with fine Sauternes. The aftertaste is unctuous and extremely long.

Oozing aromas of blackberries with notes of tobacco and liquorice, this is a forward wine for Troplong Mondot with slightly lower acidity due to the vintage. Really good for current drinking (2009) and up to 10 years hence.

Solid and tannic it has a core of sweet blackcurrant fruit wrapped in an overcoat of ripe, chunky tannins. Although good at present (2009) it will be better for a few more years cellaring with an age in front of it.

Wonderful to drink now (2009) but should develop further over the coming 10 to 15 years and last in bottle for a further decade or so beyond. This is a real star and although not cheap by anyone’s standards, we feel the price is justified by the quality.
