Hidden away around the back of the hills of Meursault, Monthelie is an unsung hero of the Cote de Beaune. A wine not always charming in its youth Monthelie benefits from 2 or 3 years in bottle and this particular example is spot on for drinking at present with oodles of ripe fruit balanced by a solid structure and a firm velvety finish.

Well flavoured with good acidity and loaded with blossom style fruit, this is a wonderful white Rhone that is at its best with fish, especially Seabreem.

This super vineyard has produced a wine which is deep in fruit aromas that explode on the palate and finish with a dry, stoney finish. Superb!

Classic Haut Medoc predominately Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep, rich in fruit with a good backbone of tannin. Great to drink at the moment but with many years ahead.

Aromas of black fruit with hints of toast, which are intense with notes of vanilla covering with oxygen. The palate is ripe and perfectly balanced with intense black berry flavours and more complex notes beneath.

An enormous Shiraz produced in the terra rossa of Coonawarra. Despite its power and the pure fruit on the palate the wine still retains an elegance that makes drinking a delight. Superb with roast meats and casseroles.

Loaded with dark spicy fruit and polished by the judicious use of new oak the wine is full flavoured and complete with a massive aftertaste. Although ideal for drinking at the moment it has many years of life ahead of it in bottle if you can keep your hands off it for that long!

A stunning offering from Shane McLaughlin. this is a monster Shiraz. The nose is full and the palate is rich in fruit yet with loads of complexity beneath and it finishes with a sensational aftertaste.

Alain Meunier has made this lowly Burgundian appellation into something really sensational. It displays loads of sweet blackcurrant flavours together with a firm structure that is barely discernable thanks to the overcoat of fruit. His wine-making style produces bottles that are delicious to drink as soon as we receive them but offer the same enjoyment throughout their life.

This stunning white Cotes du Rhone has 20 grams residual sugar which not only gives a hint of sweetness but also a richness on the palate. Aromas of blossom with citric notes give way to a rich, well proportioned palate with hints of almonds balancing the peachy fruit flavours.

Classic Chablis from Emile Petit. Full and bright nose of green apples leads to a fresh and mineral palate where the fruit really comes alive. This great wine will grace any table and is perfect when served with shellfish, fish or white meats.

Memories of Provence! A nose of white blossom and white fruits is mirrored on the palate with a refreshing acidity. The wine just oozes aromas and flavours of the South of France.

The colour is a brilliant yellow. The aroma is a powerfully floral and fruity with hits of peach and apricot. In the mouth, fruity and floral with a very fine and fruity structure. Goes well with fish and white meats.

Deftly balanced, rich and dark with aromas of plums and floral notes, it is luscious on the palate with clearly defined fruit flavours and a full and generous finish.

Aloxe Corton is quite a rustic appellation that always benefits from time in bottle. This wine is now perfect for drinking and the tannins have softened to melt in with the wonderful developed fruit aromas along with the notes of undergrowth and wet dog!

Although this is not a 1er Cru vineyard it consistently makes delicious wines under the direction of this Domaine. Deliciously fruity with a fine spice and now more complex secondary flavours coming from its ageing in bottle. Ideal to drink now and especially good with strong soft cheeses.

Rich in fruit and spice with good backbone and structure, hints of liquorice and a long, full finish. Syrah at its best with a tantalising development as you drink down the bottle.

On the palate it is pure silk with a superb intensity of fruit balanced by acidity to make the palate refreshed and clean. The finish is yet another sensation, so long and so intense. A glorious wine!

This monopole (solely owned) of the Tollot-Beaut Domaine is consistently one of our favourite red Burgundies. From its open red fruit nose in youth it will develop superbly over the coming years to be a bottle that will always grace any table. Fantastic value for its quality.

Fantastic modern style Rioja. On the nose the full red fruit aromas are given complexity with notes of coffee, toast and spices. In the mouth it is potent with good body, mature tannins and the full fruit sensations perceived in the aromas.

On the palate it is dominated by black fruit with a rich fruit cake core that are backed by soft ripe tannins.
