Forge Mill
The town of Franschhoek derives its name from the French Huguenot families who were allocated fams in the Oliphantshoek (Elephants corner) valley in about 1690. Some fo these Hunguenots were experienced viticulturists and established the tradition of wine making in the valley. Franschhoek Vineyards was founded in 1945 by a group a local grape farmers to vinify thier grapes on a co-operative basis. Today the cellar operates as a company with about 82 producer/shareholders.

This medium-full bodied red wine has an approachable earthy style with wonderful aromas of berry fruit and a hint of oak. On the palate it has notes of violets over the blackberry fruit that finishes with the typical sweet berry flavours.
