Giuseppe Mascarello

Based in the commune of Castiglione Falletto the winery of Guiseppe Mascarello is one of the most classical producers of Barolo. He has never experimented with new oak barriques but instead prefers the traditional larger oak and chestnut "foudres" of the region. The jewel in the crown is the Monprivato vineyard which the family own entirely. As well as producing the most wonderful Barolo this is an historically famous site which was mentioned in the land registry as far back as 1666. These are wines capable of great age which will more than justify a place in any cellar.

	Dolcetto d'Alba 'Santa Stefano' R1 2005 £12.00 There is a classy bouquet of flowers and cherries, with hints of polish, and a generous palate with bright fruit and clean acidity and a fresh, lingering finish.
	Barolo "Villero" - Giuseppe Mascarello R3 2001 £41.55 This wine when 1st poured appears pale yet the aromas are imense with intense flavours of raw meat. On the palate sensational fruit with hints of tar lead effortlessley to a huge finish. Wondeful!
