Mischa Winery
Mischa Estate is the latest "hot" property in the Cape, winning a string of awards and recieving a 91 and 92 Parker rating for their Eventide wines. They currently produce top quality Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot but they are also looking to experiment with other varieties. Shiraz in South Africa has come a long way in the last few years and those from Mischa are amongst the new stars. Mischa Farm has been in the Barns family for 3 generations, bought after WW2 but Kelpie Bars and his wife, ballet dancer Yvonne Blake. They ran a mixed farming operation and in the late 60's Kelpie started to graft vines on a small scale. Around this time the bordereing farm of Eventide was also purchased. Thier son, John , further developed the business to what is today one of the Cape's leading "stokkies" nurseries. Andrew Barns is the winemaker, making great and creative wines. Each has its own character and personality. They are full of strength but with natural balance which comes with the soil and climate where naturally high acid levels combine with perfectly ripe fruit from top quality, perfectly healthy vineyards - as you would expect from a nurseryman's son.

What a wine! Just bursting with ripe plummy blackberry and cherry fruit. Full bodied with overtones of blackcurrant, full and rich on the palate but still retaining elegance. A must!

Wonderful Shiraz that just exudes ripe black fruit aromas that combine effortlessly with spice. On the palate it is full and rich and although high in alcohol this is does not interefer with the fruit or the mouth-feel. Wonderful!
