New Zealand
Terrific Sauvignon Blanc and now much, much more. New Zealand continues to capture the palates of consumers worldwide.

New Zealand’s rise to prominence has been centred mainly on Hawke’s Bay on the North Island and Marlborough on the cooler South Island. New Zealand’s wine-makers have not rested on their laurels but have sought out exciting new areas such as Matakana which is perfect for growing red grapes and especially so for the Bordeaux classics of Cabernet and Merlot.

This sensational Sauvignon Blanc from Peter Vegar's vineyards in Marlborough where the cool climate conditions are perfect for developing the herbaceous aromas and lively fruit flavours of the varietal. This delicious wine boasts lovely aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit, grapefruit and red pepper. Wild lime and gooseberry tantalise the palate before delivering a refreshing, long and clean finish.

As usual with Pinot Noir this is no blockbuster but an elegant and complex vine with good red berry fruit backed by spice and notes of terroirs.

The wine is rich in pear fruit with hints of candied pineapple and a soft mouthfeel, the 4 grams of residual sugar making it opulent and rich. Full and long in the finish it has a good 5 years ahead of it (from 2009) and will make a terrific partner to fish, poultry and white meats.
