On the first visit to Phillipe’s cellar we were amazed to find a wall of barrels of Bonnes Mares! The 1997 vintage is now at perfection and displays elegance and finesse together with power and developed fruit, making this a wonderful bottle for lovers of fine mature Burgundy.

Drinking perfectly now, the wine shows incredible ripeness with black fruits dominating both the bouquet and the palate. The tannins are ripe and the tell-tale hints of bacon fat – a signature of Syrah – are displayed in the finish. A superb wine that more than warrants the cost.

Lovely intense ruby colour with violet highlights. Good brightness and clarity. Complex nose of well-ripened cherry and liquorice. This pleasant quality is present in the mouth along with softened tannins. The finish coats the mouth with its sugariness.

An intense pink colour and intense aromas of citrus fruits and stewed strawberries open up this wine that has a wonderful balance between mature fruit and minerality on the palate.

Oozing aromas of blackberries with notes of tobacco and liquorice, this is a forward wine for Troplong Mondot with slightly lower acidity due to the vintage. Really good for current drinking (2009) and up to 10 years hence.

This stunning new wine has an intense cherry colour with dark red tones and purple hues around the rim. It has an elegant fruity character, with stong notes of ripe blackberries and plums. In the mouth it is voluptuous and the fruit notes are echoed and combine effortlessly with the velvety tannins.

Pure Tempranillo aged in new French oak that is still evident behind the ripe black fruit, coffee and spice aromas, it is incredibly focused on the palate with a core of pure black fruit with mineral notes beneath, it is starting to drink (2009) but with an incredible life ahead of it.

The Domaine owns vines in a perfect part of the Clos Vougeot vineyard and makes one of the greatest examples of this appellation. Firm, chewy and dark ripe fruit, a full and defined structure with plenty of ripe tannins to balance.
