Chateau d'Aydie is a 35 hectare estate in the Madiran appellation and is owned by the Laplace familly.
Framed by a backdrop of the Pyrenees mountains, the chateau d'Aydie certainly dominates the hillside. For the last 3 generations, the Laplace family have pioneered the deveopment of wines from the Tannat grape and now they are regarded as one of the region''s premium producers. And rightly so for the wines are always concentrated yet with great balance and sophistication.
The philosophy at Chateau d'Aydie is that great wines are made in the vineyard and, in fact, this ideal has been in place for the previous generations with the fruits of the labours now showing through superbly. There are no rules to making wine, simply adapting to the differences that occur through each vintage and making sure that as little treatment as possible is done to allow the natural qualities of this special terroir to shine through.
