Chateau Dereszla can trace its history back to at least the 15th century and it is one of the richest tales of the area. Passing through hands such as the Habsbourgs and the Bocskai Princes of Transylvania, it is now in the hands of the d'Aulan family, more famous for Champagne than for Tokaji, who have resurrected the fine quality that this very particular terroir can achieve.
In fact there are 15 distinct terroirs at Dereszla, each adding to the complexity of the resulting wines which range from dry to luscious and sweet. The base wines are mainly based of the Furmint grape variety which seems unique to this region with Muskotaly also adding much to the fine late harvest and Aszu wines.
These wines are unique and Chateau Dereszla is one of the finest properties that produce the amber nectar. Not only do the sweet wines show great intensity but the balancing acidity retains the freshness within them ensuring that no matter what level of residual sugar is in the wine, they are always a real delight to drink.
