Chateau Haut Peyrous - Graves

Chateau Haut Peyrous is owned by Marc Darroze who was born into a family of Gascogne restaurateurs. Marc originally set out to source Armagnacs for the family restaurants - in fact his sister Helene Darroze boasts two Michelin rosettes at her wonderful restaurant in the Connaught Hotel in London - since when he has diversified into his own wine estate in the Graves appellation of Bordeaux.

When we first tasted the white wine of Haut Peyrous, we were blown away by the quality, the wine being simply delicious and a great example of just what can be achieved in the white wines of Bordeaux. The red's not to be missed either showing all the earthy charm that tipifies the appellation.

These are both wines that seem under-priced by Bordeaux standards and Chateau Haut Peyrous should certainly be considered for every cellar.

Chateau Haut Peyrous Rouge - Graves 2008

Fine red Graves from Marc Darroze. Complex and well fruited with notes of lavender in the bouquet and plenty of spicy plum flavours on the palate. First-rate claret that's drinking well now.
