Chateau St Cosme - Gigondas

Chateau St Cosme is run by Louis Barroul, a man with a passion for life that shines through in his winemaking. The domaine which has been in the family since 16th century but where winemaking can be traced back to Gallo-Roman times, benefits greatly from a large parcel of old-vine Grenache which gives formidable depth and quality to its Gigondas.

St Cosme vines have strict limits on the yields and Louis selects rigorously to ensure that only the finest fruit makes it into his vats. In addition to the estate wines, Louis produces a range of wines under a negotiant label from grapes purchased under contract. Contracts give Louis control of the vineyards throughout the year allowing him to control production from vineyard to cellar, guaranteeing the finest of quality.

The wines of St Cosme are some of the finest to be found in the Rhone Valley, both from the estate and also the negotiant business. If you're looking for a good everyday red, you'll have to go a long way to get better value than Louis' Cotes du Rhone!
