Christian Miolane is a most hospitable man whose roots are firmly in the Beaujolais. Based in the picturesque village of Salles-Arbuissonas en Beaujolais in the small hamlet of La Folie, the south-east facing granite slopes are perfect for the Gamay grape and give a wine of real depth and character.
Rene Miolane, Christian Miolane's father, encouraged him to to revive and develop the family wine business back in 1975, but most of the domaine dates back to the 1700's. Christian is a true artist and he knows exactly how to capture and interpret the charms of his vines which today are between 50 and 70 years old.
Today, many Beaujolais wines have a simple fruit but here, Christian Miolane coaxes all the potential of the terroir from the grapes giving a wine rich in black fruit flavours but with some mineral notes behind and a faint whiff of cigar box on the nose. The wine is also capable of ageing and is often at its best between 2 and 5 years after the vintage. For those of you looking for a charming and unusual wedding venue, the estate also boasts a wonderful Salle des Fetes which makes a sensational place to celebrate.
