Domaine Emile Petit - Chablis
The Domaine Emile Petit is owned by Jean-Marc Brocard, one of Chablis’s most famous and skillful vignerons. The village Chablis comes predominately from the village of Chichee on the banks of the Serein river some 2 or 3 kilometers South-East of Chablis, where the soil structure is perfect producing crisp, steely and mineral wines that typify this appellation.
The Emile Petit range has premier cru vineyards predominantly on the right bank, that which is favoured locally by growers because of the slightly better exposure similar to the Grand Cru vineyards. These are wines that embody the true style of Chablis and with no oak used in the production, they remain fine, fresh and quite delicious both in youth and age.
Julien Brocard, Jean Marc's son and wine-maker for Emile Petit is now working some of the vineyards in a bio-dynamic manner and more are planned for the future. Having spent some considerable time tasting wines for the full spectrum of growers in Chablis we are constantly surprised at the general quality level which remains low, but the Domaine Emile Petit wines can always be relied upon to offer high quality and exceptionally good drinking.
