Champy may well be the oldest negociant company in Burgundy, founded in 1720. It was revitalised when the Meurgey family took control in 1989. The first vintage under their supervision (1990) revealed a new-found wisdom in purchase and elevage which has resulted in a house style of polish and elegance. The appointment of Dmitri Bazas as wine maker has further strengthened the appeal of this increasingly important family business.
Today, the vast majority of the Champy range comes from their own vineyards, land which they have either purchased or rented, to ensure the correct quality of fruit. In fact, their production is Biodynamic, that is, the plants are tended according to the lunar cycle as well as the wines that are being worked in the cellar.
The Champy range is now some of the finest collections of wines that Burgundy has to offer and each one delivers exactly what each diverse terroir has to offer.
