This is an incredibly small estate that produces little more than 1000cases per year, most of which is Brunello di Montalcino. They say that the best things come in small packages and here, it certainly is true!
The south facing vineyards of the Piancornello estate have ideal exposure and with low cropping clones planted, the quality of the fruit is superb. We've been lucky enough to start with the spectacular 2004 vintage which is quite exceptional especially with the skill of winemaker Claudio Monaci.
The Piancornello wines are distinguished by their luscious texture combined with layer after layer of complex fruit and secondary aromas and flavours. Wines of great distinction that should grace every cellar.

Rosso di Montalcino - Piancornello 2008 |
A junior Brunello di Montalcino and from the same vineyards, this is a very affordable wine for the quality, well fruited and lightly spiced with cherry notes dominant. A great meat partner.

Brunello di Montalcino - Piancornello 2004 |
A top class Brunello from this miniscule estate just close to Siena. It really shows Sangiovese at it's best with wonderful, savoury fruit charcters over spice and notes of wild herbs. A true classic.
