The small estate of San Giorgio a Lapi has been owned by the Simoni family since 1977, but the production of the farm dates back to 1700 and previous to that records exist of a monastery on the site dating back 1109. Since 1700 both vines and olives were cultivated on the land and this work has been continued by the Simonis who are now making honest and natural wines using traditional methods.
Situated to the north-east of Sienna in the heart of Chianti country, The San Giorgio a Lapi wines are really Tuscany in a bottle! Based on Sangiovese for the reds and there own special clone of white Malvasia, the wines epitomise the good things of this wonderful region.
The other claim to fame for this delightful estate is their olive production which makes the most delicious olive oil. When the new, first press oil comes over to us it is so wonderfully peppery, you can almost drink it it's so appealing!
