Sol de Andes is a young and exciting company, only established in 1993 in the Maule Valley but certainly creating a big reputation for quality. In 2003 they expanded the vinyard holding by aquiring land in the Colchagua Valley followed by buying some prime land in the Casablanca Valley in 2008, specifically for the production of high quality Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Riesling (the latter will appear in our catalogue in 2012).
The philosophy of Sol de Andes is simple - pure fruit driven wines with great varietal character and focus which will develop in bottle over a defined period to increase drinking pleasure.Although oak ageing is normal for the reds, it is ony the Reserva Especial Chardonnay that undergoes barrel ageing, a cuvee with sufficient fruit to support such a technique.
With Sol de Andes being such a young company, we feel there is far more to come from their cellars than is currently being offered. However the present range is certainly not lacking and their wines will grace any table.
