The Stadlmann winery in Traiskirchen, Austria maybe a recent addition to our list yet the history of the estate goes back to 1780 when the founder Johann Stadlmann dedicated himself to the production of high quality wines. Seven generations later, the lastest Johann Stadlmann is still producing some of Austria''s finest wines.
Weingut Stadlmann is based in the Thermenregion, where the terroir, the unique combination of climate and soil, is the most beautiful and important tool for the winemaker. It is located south of Vienna in an area that provides a perfectly balanced terroir. Well regulated influences from the pannonian basin determine the climate from the south and east while the Anninger mountains block the cold winds from the north and west. There is a variety of well irrigated and warmed soils. They range from lime interspersed soil to sandy clay to loamy bentonite and to alluvial rubble. Its terroir makes the Thermenregion one of the few wine growing regions in the world able to produce both noble white wines and full-bodied red wines, as well as elegant sweet wines of world class quality.
Stadlmann wines are a true reflection of quality: they are well balanced and harmonious. Fruit, body and elegance are in perfect equilibrium in all Stadlmann wines.
