Maison Chanzy Bouzeron Clos De La Fortune Monopole is a wine of a pale yellow colour with green reflections. Aromas of fresh, slightly acidic, citrussy fruit on the nose lead into a lively and balanced palate. This is a serious, mineral driven single vineyard Bouzeron Aligoté with a fresh, zesty and gently smokey palate. It reveals a typical weight of fruit with the volume and richness of the 2012 vintage.

The small village of Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise is now the home to the finest Aligoté that is produced. Don't even think of adding cassis to this!

The vines have an average age of 35 years and the easterly exposure of the vineyard helps preserve the fresh acidity that really makes the wine come alive. 30% of the wine was aged for 8 months in oak barrels to add some fatness to the palate.

About the grower

Maison Chanzy is located in the village of Bouzeron in the heart of Burgundy, just 3 kilometers south of Chagny. Vines were first planted at the domaine by monks from the Abbey of Cluny, once the largest church in Christendom. Maison Chanzy has 36 hectares of vineyards in the AOC classified areas of Bouzeron, Mercurey, Puligny-Montrachet, Rully, Santenay, and Vosne-Romanée.

Maison Chanzy produces around 250,000 bottles a year of red and white Burgundy wines from its 32 hectares of vineyards in Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuit and Côte Chalonnaise, as well producing a range of wines on a négociant basis. The director of the estate is Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume, named Côte de Beaune Young Winemaker of the Year in 2012, and his wines have received recent awards from Decanter Magazine, Concours Des Grand Vins de France and the Guide Hachette. Jean-Baptiste uses new oak sparingly at Chanzy, allowing the fruit to come to the fore and retaining great freshness in each cuvée. Chanzy’s are predominantly wines for drinking in their youth, although the premiers and grands crus reds have fine staying power once in the bottle.
