Some easy drinking white wines from The Maconnais and Beaujolais.
This time of the year brings back some wonderful memories of holidays in the vineyards close to Macon, probably where I fell in love not just with the wines but also with the delicious food of the region. In the summertime some great dishes such as Quenelles de Brochet with a Nantua Sauce (Pike dumplings with freshwater crayfish sauce) Jambon Persille (parsleyed ham in a jelly) and gougeres (cheese profiteroles!) to name but three.
These are all incredible dishes by themselves but when paired with some lively Chardonnay from the local vineyards they are stunning.
Here’s a few bottles just to whet your appetite.
