Didier Desvignes Domaine Du Calvaire De Roche-Gres Morgon Les Charmes is a rich and meaty wine, featuring ripe cherry, peach, apricot and plum aromas and a deep garnet colour. It displays lovely red fruit flavours and balanced acidity on the palate, finishing with elegant, dry tannins and pleasing length. Decant it and drink it now, but this Morgon will certainly keep and improve over the next five or six years.

The soil of the Les Charmes vineyard in Morgon is crumbly, decomposed rock, mainly consisting of pyritic schist that is rich in iron oxide and manganese. The grapes are hand picked and sorted before traditional vinification methods are employed. Carbonic maceration lasts for 8-10 days before the wine is transferred to concrete tanks to complete its alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation takes places in older Burgundy barrels and the wine is aged in oak for 6-8 months, depending upon the style of the vintage.
