Domaine Vrignaud Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes is the product of vines averaging nearly 60 years of age. It is bottled after 12 months rather than the 9 months of the two other Domaine Vrignaud Chablis premier cru bottlings. It smells of sea breezes and lightly toasted nuts and seeds, as well as of the mirabelle and melon that go on to define its lush, expansive and highly complex palate. It projects a core of citrus juiciness, although its subtly smoky and saline finish incorporates a hint of creamy richness from its extended lees ageing.

Within the premier cru Chablis vineyard of Fourchaume lies a small area known as Côtes De Fontenay and it is here that the Vrignaud family first planted vines back in 1955. These are now producing the most wonderful fruit, albeit in very small quantities. The resulting wine, having been vinified in stainless steel and matured on its lees for 12 months, has a classic and very intense Chablis character.
