2017 conditions were very dry in the early part of the season, with average temperatures, clear skies and a high risk of frost. Warm conditions during the flowering in mid-December resulted in good yields. Some necessary rain in earl and mid-January allowed for healthy, vigorous growth. February was hot and dry, followed by a warm March; the perfect weather for intense flavour development. All in all this has resulted in a classic New Zealand Riesling with plenty of potential for the future.
