2017 White Burgundy Mixed Case

by Mixed
£128.50

After several years of short harvests in the Cotes de Beaune, the source of most of the great white wines of Burgundy, 2017 came in with a generous quantity but most importantly with a good quality so wine was available for us all to enjoy again. If you want to put wine from the three big names on the table, Meursault, Puligny and Chassagne Montrachet, it can cost a kings ransom these days but some of the lesser known villages offer wines for really enjoyable drinking that lack nothing in terms of quality, it's just they have slightly different personalities. Here we have put together three of our favourites for you to enjoy.

Rully Blanc - Cave des Vignerons de Buxy 2017

100% unoaked Chardonnay that really delivers terrific fruit flavours in a mineral overcoat. It was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve as much of the pure fruit flavours and aromas as possible. Golden with a few green tinges, the wine opens with a fresh nose of acacia and honeysuckle which evolves with oxygen into notes of honey, quince and dried fruits. The palate is supported by a full minerality and a fresh acidity that delivers the pure fruit notes. It's a truly gastronomic wine that would be ideally paired with a grilled trout or some scallops. It works well with chicken too especially in a cream sauce or even some fine cheese.

Monthelie "Les Champs Ronds" - Domaine Boigelot 2017

A superb single village Burgundy born just round the corner from Meursault. The vineyard is close to the centre of the village and is planted with Chardonnay. On the nose their are aromas of vanilla, white flowers and fresh hazelnuts. The palate mirrors these and displays great freshness with plenty of chewy fruit. The finish is fairly long with mineral notes. A wonderful food partner.

Saint Romain "La Combe Bazin" - Domaine Prunier Bonheur 2017

Saint-Romain La Combe Bazin 2017 has a bracing minerality imparted by the calcium-rich soils of its vineyard. This makes it an ideal partner to food, whilst the perfect level of acidity provides freshness and vitality. This is classic white Burgundy at an affordable price and is sure to please lovers of fine Chardonnay. The 2017 vintage gave wines that are very approachable in youth and this is a super example.

The six bottle case has two bottles of each of these wines while the 12 bottle case has 4 of them.
