Champagne Guy Charlemagne Brut Classic N/V
Champagne Guy Charlemagne Brut Classic is the only cuvee of the house that doesn't come from the Cote des Blancs but rather from their vineyards in Sezanne. Nontheless, this is a wonderful Champagne that benefits from the same skill and dedication as the other cuvees do. The wine shows a steady stream of delicate and fine bubbles. The bouquet is powerful with yellow flowers dominating and ripe summer fruits such as cherry or plum too. Smooth on the palate with pear and ripe citrus notes together with hints of mandarin. It is surprisingly long in flavour with a perfect balance of acidity and flavour. All in all this is a majestic Champagne, a wine of great balance and breeding.

From the chalky-clay terroir of Sezanne, this Brut Champagne is a blend of 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Chardonnay is grown lower down the slopes where the limestone element is a perfect home while the Pinot Noir is planted in the upper part of the slope where the soil has a greater clay element, again is perfect for growing the Pinot Noir.
Chardonnay brings finesse and elegance to the cuvee as the Pinot Noir brings body and structure. After belnding the wine spends at least two years on the lees in bottle before disgorgement at which time it is given a dosage of around 8 grams per litre.
