Champagne Guy Charlemagne Cuvee Mesnillesime Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 2008
This superb Blanc de Blancs Champagne from Le Mesnil sur Oger is from the excellent 2008 vintage and comes from 65 year old vines. Pale yellow in colour with hints of green, it has a persistent mousse with very fine bubbles. Powerful yet elegant, the bouquet is dominated by acacia honey with a touch of candied lemons, smoke and hints of pepper. Unctuous, ever so lightly naked and very complex on the palate, the candied fruit and citrus notes give way to a touch of vanilla in the finish.

A stunning Champagne with character from the Cote des Blancs terroir, specifically Le Mesnil sur Oger (limestone parcels with vines averaging 65 years of age). This Champagne, produced from the first press of le Mesnil sur Oger juice, highlights the exact characteristic of the village. This is truly not only a jewel of the Charlemagne house but also of the game of Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. This vintage wine combines both authenticity and the search for ultimate quality.
Elegantly presented with a stylish label, The Mesnillisime Cuvee is produced with rigorous vilification both in stainless steel tanks (80%) and used Burgundian barrels (20% with no malolactic fermentation). The dosage is only 4 grams of sugar per litre. It was matured for almost 10 years in the chalky underground cellars of the house and it shows the very high quality of the Charlemagne production.
Chardonnay, the only grape here, shows what balance, harmony and purity can mean. A rare Champagne for unforgettable moments.
