Ciabot Berton Rutuin Dolcetto D'Alba has bright aromas of ripe cherries and red berries, before the full bodied, fruity and mineral-edged palate takes over. Nicely integrated tannins, more than enough acidity to balance and soft notes of fine herbs lead in to the ample and long finish. The Piemontese enjoy a good Dolcetto throughout the course of a meal; we can only suggest that you give it a try!

Despite having one of the world’s greatest wine regions on their doorstep, the Piemontese prefer Dolcetto to Barolo and Barbera as their wine of choice. The name Dolcetto – “little sweet one” – refers to the variety’s relatively low acidity and it relies upon slightly firmer tannins to balance its structure. It is this attribute that makes it such a food-friendly wine and such a great match for many of the area’s meat and cheese dishes. Grown near Alba on the hillsides of La Morra, in the district of Rocchettevino (known as “Rutuin” in the local dialect), it is entirely unoaked, spending between nine and twelve months in stainless steel vats to mature before being bottled.
