Domaine Du Grand Ormeau

Domaine Du Grand Ormeau

One of the oldest, family owned estates in Bordeaux, Domaine Du Grande Ormeau has been run with passion and experience for generations. Jean Garde inherited the property from his father, running it with rigour and determination until he died in 1974, and he was one of the first vignerons in the region to selling his wines directly to his customers. His three sons took over the family enterprise, with Jean-Paul the director of what was then J. Garde Et Fils. Today, even Frédéric, Jean’s grandson, assists his parents with the running of the domain and is also the winemaker at Château De Marchesseau.

Over the decades the domain has witnessed constant development and growth, either through the planting of new vines, the construction of new buildings, the installation of new technology or the purchase of additional land. Across the generations, each family member and employee has worked consciously to maintain a good balance of traditional and modern methods with one goal in mind: to produce ever better wines. The vineyards now encompass 21 hectares of prestigious terroirs in Lalande De Pomerol, Pomerol and Montagne-Saint-Émilion and the wines produced are Domaine Du Grande Ormeau, Fleur Des Ormes, Château La Truffe and Vieux Château Goujon.
