Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015
This wonderful Grand Cru from the Drouhin Larose stable is made from old vines which are naturally low cropping and thus give a wine of great concentration. Black fruits and mineral dominate the palate and the fruit shows great ripeness. On the palate it is generous and has great depth of flavour, a moderate body with the ripe black fruit supported by plenty of ripe tannin too. A wine to wait a little while for but now (2020) starting to show its paces.

In the Middle Ages, Latricières-Chambertin produced such good quality wines that is was called the "Petite Merveille" (tiny wonder). "Latricières" is derived from "La Tricière" which in old Burgundian dialect refers to land that is unfit to farm, land that has barely any value at all. Ironically, it is now some of the most valuable agricultural land in the world as today grand cru vineyards in Burgundy cost anywhere from €2 million to €10 million per hectare.
