Teso La Monja Alabaster 2009

"There are notes of blackcurrant pastilles, cedar and a touch of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with nicely integrated oak, the tannins not quite as fine as the 2010 Teso La Monja Alabaster, but supporting more fruit toward the finish. Blackberry, brine, touches of cedar and orange zest inform the finish, which has good weight. Drink 2014-2025+. 94 Points"

After selling their Numanthia-Termes estate in Toro, the Eguren family invested in this new venture. New only in terms of the Eguren's winery, the Teso La Monja estate has parcels of vines that date back over 130 years.

Harvested on 14th and 15th October with yields of ten hectoliters per hectare, the 2009 Teso La Monja Alabaster is similar to the 2010 in that it is a little reticent at first and demands coaxing from the glass.
