Weingut Stadlmann - St Laurent Rose
St Laurent is a grape variety that is becoming quite popular in Austria. It's believed to be a relative of Pinot Noir and although by itself it can be a little rustic, for rose the aroma profile of red berries and citrus make it a good choice.
Aromas of red berries, cherries and some citrus notes such as lemons lead to a dry palate that has copious amounts of berry fruit with peaches behind. The good acidity make the wine very refreshing and thus a class wine to drink by itself. It fares well at the dining table too with well flavoured salads and foods such as asparagus which is notoriously hard to partner. Not cheap but a solid investment for a gastronomic rose and still relatively unknown in the UK.
