Cremant de Bourgogne Reserve Brut n/v Caves de Bailly Lapierre
A superb sparkling wine from southern Burgundy with all the class of a Champagne but not the price! The wine is made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay and Aligote grapes that were hand-picked before delicate pressing in the winery. The initial fermentation of the base wines and subsequent malolactic fermentation are all done seperately so the origin and grape variety of each base wine is preserved until the time comes for the second fermentation in bottle (the Champagne method) before which the various base wines are blended to give the wine it's own unique style and taste. This will not vary from year to year so every bottle you open will remain the same subject to bottle ageing.
The final wine is well-rounded and very fresh with a complex bouquet of stonefruits and green apple backed by notes of yeast and brioche. On the palate it is well rounded, very refreshing and generous in the finish. It makes an excellent aperitif and enhances just about any occasion.
