St Emilion – The most photographed village in France
The medieval village of St Emilion is one of the most beautiful places in France and as such it is the most photographed village in the country. But as well as beautiful scenery, it also has some wonderful red wines based on the Merlot grape variety.
Merlot is much softer than its friend from across the water in the Medoc, the Cabernet Sauvignon, and even when paired with some Cabernet Franc, a pairing that is quite usual there with Merlot accounting for the lions share, the wines remain charming and very easy drinking.
Here are just a few for you to enjoy with some barbecued dishes when you’re relaxing in the garden.
