Weingut Stadlmann - Thermenregion, Austria

Founded in 1778 by Johann Stadlmann, this superb gem of an estate has continuously made wines of the very finest quality on this small terrain on the southern outskirts of Vienna. Each generation has learned exactly where is perfect for each grape variety to grow and prosper giving of the most perfect fruit.

Now, the family have around 50 hectares of land under vine, most of which are old vines and which are farmed under strict organic rules, Bernhard, the current generation of the family, makes wines of great purity and character that demonstrate just what the area can offer. Many traditional practices are used although he is not closed to more modern ideas and tecniques. The wines are generally aged in large wooden barrels that are quite neutral in character. The wines therfore, shine with the characteristics of the grape varieties and are not only gastronomic but also fun to drink just by themselves.

The wines from the single vineyards of Mandel-Hoh and Tagelsteiner are constantly heaped with praise by journalists and are worthy of being in every serious cellar.
