We've dealt with these guys for 0ver 25 years and Amelie, now the high-priestess of Ragotiere even came to work with us to develop her English. The Couillaud family are just such lovely people and their wines are just the best thing to come out of the Pays Nantais.
Why we like this wine
Well apart from the great memories it conjures up. it's simply a great value work-horse wine for so many occasions. Years ago when Bernard came over to work with us for a few days, we took him to the Yang Sing Chinese Restaurant in Manchester. There they served some Dim Sum with a chilli sauce and Bernard immediately said "You can't serve that with my Muscadet" to which the sommelier replied "In that case we can't serve your Muscadet here!!". After a few minutes, Bernard agreed to try his wine with the Dim Sum dipped in Chilli sauce. It went perfectly well with it! On his return to Nantes, he explained this to the powers that be on the local wine committee and the upshot was the guys from the region going to a wine fair in Shanghai together with their recipe book for cooking spicy food to accompany their Muscadets!
