Chateau-Fuisse Pouilly-Fuisse Vieilles Vignes 2011 certainly is a sensational wine. The ample oak influence is balanced by a beautifully layered nose of dried yellow stone fruits, orange peel and floral nuances. There is superb concentration and richness to the big, powerful and broad-shouldered flavours, and the palate possesses an explosively long, precise, saline finish. One of the Mâconnais', and one of Burgundy's, truly great bottles!

Château-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is the flagship of of a flagship estate. M. Vincent once said to me that his Vieilles Vignes cuvée is like a child: you can see all of its character and potential in its youth, but it's only in maturity that one can be certain of its true greatness. The grapes are sourced from the three family vineyards of Le Clos, Les Combettes and Les Brulées and their low yielding vines average over 50 years old.

The Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is vinified at Château-Fuissé's new state-of-the-art winery, and then aged for a minimum of 12 months in 100% new oak in the cellars beneath the house.
