Château Mazeyres 2012, Pomerol

Chateau Mazeyres 2012 is ruby coloured with purple glints. A touch of vanilla first on the nose, then a savoury note of toasted hazelnuts that evolves into black cherry and raspberry fruit as it opens with air. The attack is soft and subtle and the tannins are developed and charming. Ripe red and black fruits linger across the palate and into the finish, with a light touch of oak giving complexity and structure.

Château Mazeyres 2012 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, grown in clayey gravel and clayey sand on a sub-soil of iron-rich clay, known locally as “crasse de fer”. Fermentation took place in small, temperature controlled stainless steel, with a long period of vatting for soft extraction of velvety tannins. It was matured in 40% new oak barrels for 15 months.
