Château Viranel Viognier is grown in the pebbly soils of Saint-Chinian. The grapes were hand harvested in the cool of the early morning to retain their vibrant acidity. Similarly, temperature control was strictly monitored during vinification to preserve all of the subtle aromas, and three months of lees contact with regular stirring added richness.

Why we like this wine

Viognier produces wines that are gastronomic in style when grown well, but nowadays the world is awash with poor examples where the vine has been allowed to overproduce to hot lower price points. this is juat as it should be, fresh, packed with apricot fruit and vibrants in the finish. The soils of St Chinian add a definite mineral edge to the wine making it fir perfectly with food. It doen't have the oily qualitites that many have which can make the wine boring to drink so all in all it's a great wine at a very affordable price.

  • Well flavoured
  • Fresh and mineral
  • Great value for money
