Ciabot Berton Barolo Rocchettevino 2012 has a perfect blend of fruit and spice on the nose; ripe, open and full of cherry and rose aromas. The palate is full bodied, chewy and loaded with dark cherry fruit, with excellent tannic structure, lively acidity and a long and complex finish. Just starting to come into its own, but don’t feel that you need to be a rush to drink this Barolo as there’s plenty of life left in it yet.

From a single vineyard that sits at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level, this Ciabot Berton Rocchettevino Barolo is a magnificent offering from Marco and Paola Oberto. 2009 was a ripe vintage with a hot summer, but thanks to the cool nights a freshness was retained within the wine and, although it has spent two years in oak, the large 50hl botti have added balance rather than flavour.

From James Suckling’s website:
Lots of ripe fruit to this yet not too much. Dried strawberries, chocolate and coffee beans. Subtle. Full body, round tannins and a delicious finish. Better in 2016. 91 Points, 01/14

From Antonio Galloni’s
The 2009 Barolo Rocchettevino is the most powerful of these 2009 Barolos from Ciabot Berton. Dark cherries, plum, menthol, smoke and tobacco all burst from the glass in a virile, powerful Barolo. If the tannins settle down, the 2009 may merit a higher score. Still, this is a solid showing. Drink 2014-2021. 90 Points

From Decanter Magazine:
Beautifully perfumed and refined with an open and expressive nose, showing aromas of ripe cherry, ginger and toasted coffee. Big and powerful, but finishes long and pure with hints of tar. Lovely, textbook Barolo. Drink 2014-2024. 92 Points - Highly recommended, 10/13
