Ciabot Berton Barolo Roggeri 2007 is from a ripe and sensual vintage that has given a red garnet wine with a decidedly fruity nose, displaying notes of dried flowers, prunes and oak spice. On the palate, it is full bodied, tannic, yet silky smooth and gently oaky with a finish that is expansive and lingering.

The vineyard of Roggeri is on the higher ground of La Morra with a fine south-eastern exposure. The vines are now over 40 years old and give superb fruit for Marco Oberto to work with. After a traditional vinification, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 12 months before being decanted into Slavonian oak botti where it stayed for a further 18 months. The result is incredible, and a very interesting contrast to the more traditional style of our other single vineyard Ciabot Berton Barolo.

From Wine Spectator:
A warm red, exuding tar, tobacco, cherry, floral and sun-baked earth aromas and flavours, with a long, spicy finish. This still has the chewy texture courtesy of the tannins, but is developing nicely. Best from 2014 through 2026. 93 Points, 10/13
