Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2016
£62.00
"The 2016 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeots has a well-defined bouquet with honeysuckle and candle wax aromas, good complexity but it will need more time. The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, quite saline in the mouth with good depth. It might need to develop a tad more tension on the finish but it is a fine Chassagne that should give a decade's worth of pleasure." - The Wine Advocate

The Abbey of Morgeot dates back to year 864, but around 1150 the Cistercian monks benefited from numerous donations and built a communal farm, vineyard and chapel in the vicinity. Although the Morgeot soil is composed of heavy red clay and limestone and usually produces wines of robust and rich characters, the Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot is rather more citrussy than many.
