The Gascony region of South West France was originally famous for the production of Armagnac but with spirits falling from grace these days (gin excepted) much of the land has been given over to wine production. At first, it was just about all white much of which was thin, insipid and acidic. These days, many of the producers are producing wines of great quality and for us there is no finer example than Domaine Horgelus where the Le Menn family are fashioning wonderful examples of great drinking wines.

Each case contains:

Cotes de Gascogne Blanc - Gros Manseng/Sauvignon Blanc

This is a stunning white wine that always over-delivers in terms of quality/value rapport. The Gros Manseng grape variety is mainly used in the Jurancon sweeter wines but here it has been crafted into a full flavoured dry white and when it is worked together with Sauvignon Blanc it becomes truly refreshing and an ideal partner to seafood.

Cotes de Gascogne Rose

An intense and complex bouquet of sweet wild strawberries, citrus fruits and fresh, juicy blackcurrants lead into a smooth and thirst-quenching palate with notes of wild herbs and a citrussy acidity. Domaine Horgelus Rose is made from grapes that were picked at night, an old trick in hotter climes for keeping everything fresh.

Cotes du Gascogne Rouge - Rouge de Gala

This Domaine Horgelus red wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat, the latter being a local grape variety making rich and powerful reds. The wine has a fabulous concentration with aromas of blackcurrant, licquorice and spices. On the palate it has soft, ripe tannins to support the dark fruit flavours. Smooth and deeply flavoured it is the ideal accompaniment to grilled or roast meats and soft cheeses.

Each 6 bottle case contains 2 bottles of the above, a 12 bottle case contains 4 bottles of each.
