Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillons 2014 was initially tight on the nose, although one can discern attractive lime flower and Granny Smith scents underneath. The palate is smooth on the entry with chalky, edgier elements lending a little more tension and nervosité towards the finish, a hint of spice lingering in the mouth.

Alain Chavy owns half a hectare of the Les Clavoillons vineyard, which sits next to the famous 1er Cru of Pucelles in Puligny-Montrachet. It tends to produce richer, denser wines and this is no exception. The average vine age is 55 years. This will be very good with some bottle age.
