Domaine Bernard-Bonin Meursault 1er Cru Charmes-Dessus 2008 has a racy and distinguished nose. On the palate it rich and powerful, with a regal grandeur that highlights the richness of its terroir and which merges deliciously with notes of oak spice and roasted nuts. Now with a few years of bottle age this has shed any awkwardness of youth that it might have once exhibited.

The premier cru vineyard of Les Charmes is located in the south of Meursault and it is regarded as producing the finest wines of the appellation. The deep, clayey and well-drained soil of this 30 hectare vineyard is ideally suited to Chardonnay. Domaine Bernard-Bonin owns a 0.28 hectare plot planted with vines over 40 years old. After a manual harvest and a traditional, non-interventionist style of winemaking, the wine is aged for a total of 19 months. It spends 15 months in barriques and then 4 months in tanks to settle prior to bottling.
