Domaine Cottebrune Faugeres Transhumance is strong, rich, concentrated and very well-balanced. Deep black red. Fresh, with great poise and notes of minerality. Juicy berry fruit, liquorice, white pepper, herbs and hints of olive with subtly integrated oak. This is a lively, medium-bodied, clean and easy-drinking wine with fine grained tannins that is nicely focussed on the finish.

Situated in the lowest foothills on the southern side of the Massif Central, overlooking the plain of Béziers, this steep and densely planted Faugères vineyard extends across a soil of brown schist. Thanks to its altitude, it benefits from a much more moderate microclimate than the plain below. As a result, the wines made here are fresh and well-balanced.

The uneven nature of the terrain means that plots of vines ripen at different speeds and this has to be accounted for at harvest time to ensure that each parcel of grapes is harvested at its optimum point of maturity. For the same reason, each of parcel of grapes is vinified separately in small vats to preserve their distinct characteristics. The winemaking style is traditional and aims to extract and retain colour and tannin whilst developing fresh, fruity aromas. The most structured portions of the Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre are aged for 14 months in 25% new oak barriques, the balance is aged in stainless steel to highlight the deep, rich fruit.
